Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Volunteer Meeting as we prepare to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Coronado Island Film Festival (November 5–9, 2025). We’re so grateful for your time, enthusiasm, and commitment. Below is a recap of everything covered during the meeting for your reference.


Festival Overview

We’re thrilled to celebrate our 10th year of showcasing incredible films, filmmakers, and community events.


Programming Overview

  • Schedule: Live now at festival.coronadofilmfest.com

  • Printed Program: Available beginning November 4

  • Audience Awards Ballot: All films (Independent & Studio) will use a QR code system for voting

  • Closing Night: Sunday – Hotel del Coronado (“Some Like It Hot” + Reception)

  • Night Cap: The Bower Dive Bar (Wednesday–Friday exclusive; not open Saturday or Sunday)


Volunteer Attire & Guidelines

  • CIFF Volunteer T-shirt, black pants (no leggings), and badge

  • You may be reassigned to another venue or duty as needed

  • Snacks and water provided at venues (no meals)

  • For issues, contact your Venue Manager first (connected via group chat with Diana)


Volunteer Perks | Vouchers

  • 1 shift = 1 voucher (received at the end of your shift)

  • Vouchers can be used for any screening with available space (excluding Red Carpet films and parties)

  • If you want to see a specific film, sign up for that shift or check with your Manager about availability


Behavior & Expectations

  • Be professional and courteous at all times

  • Familiarize yourself with Festival Badge types (Benefactor, VIP, Emerald, Industry, Sponsor, All-Access, Crew, Press)

  • If asked a question, never say “I don’t know” – instead reference the program or direct attendees to Customer Service

  • Do not wear your volunteer shirt or crew badge once your shift is over or when attending films as a guest

  • Report any issues to your Venue Manager first

  • Stay positive and enjoy the experience — your energy sets the tone

  • Volunteer shifts will go live this Saturday on VolunteerLocal.
    Please review the available opportunities and sign up early for your preferred times and venues.

  • You will receive a confirmation email once you’ve signed up.

  • If your plans change, please update your schedule on VolunteerLocal and notify your venue manager directly.


Badge and T-Shirt Pick-Up

All volunteers must check in before their first shift to receive their festival badge and t-shirt (and sign a waiver if needed).

Festival Office Hours:

  • November 4: 1 PM – 5 PM

  • November 5: 10 AM – 4 PM

  • November 6–8: 9 AM – 5 PM

  • November 9: 9 AM – 4 PM

If you are unable to visit the office ahead of time, please plan to arrive 30 minutes before your first scheduled shift to complete check-in.

Waiver

2025 Volunteer Waiver for Coronado Island Film Festival

WAIVER OF LAWSUIT/LIABILITY If scheduled to volunteer at the Coronado Island Film Fest, (CIFF), I do hereby for myself, my successors, heirs and assigns, fully and completely RELEASE and HOLD HARMLESS the CIFF, and hereby forever release and waive my right to bring suit against CIFF and its officers, directors, managers, officials, trustees, agents, employees, contractors, beneficiaries or other representatives from any and all claims, demands and actions that I may have, or that my successors, heirs or assigns may have, on account of loss, damage or injury, including personal injury, that I may sustain while volunteering for the CIFF. I do hereby voluntarily assume all risks, known or unknown, from volunteering for the CIFF for the dates of the festival November 5-9, 2025.

I understand that this waiver means I give up my right to bring any claims including for personal injuries, death, disease or property losses, or any other loss, including but not limited to claims of negligence and give up any claim I may have to seek damages, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen.

I understand that the CIFF partners do not provide compensation, and that a volunteer does not have the status or benefits of an employee. I understand the essential functions of the position I have volunteered for and that it may involve physical activity and I can volunteer for this job independently.


I agree to volunteer according to this waiver for the CIFF Film Festival event to be held
between now and Dec 30, 2025

During my volunteer shift(s): (by submitting this form, you agree to the below statements)


**I will not drink alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol, or any controlled substances;
**I will wear appropriate clothing, that may include the official Festival volunteer t-shirt.
**Once my shift has ended I will remove festival shirts after your shift(s) are completed.
**I hereby grant the CIFF the right and permission to publish, without charge, photographs of me, taken at the Festival. These photographs may be used in Festival produced materials (including, but not limited to: newsletters, websites, online promotions and brochures.)
**I am a voluntary participant, age 21 or over, and am in good physical condition. Under 21 volunteers will be approved by the Volunteer Director for events that do not serve alcohol.
** I am in good health and easily perform the duties that come with the shift/position I have volunteered for.


By submitting this form, I will fulfill my commitment as a volunteer for the 2025 CIFF and I agree to honor and respect all requests and conditions presented by the CIFF.


HEALTH LIABILITY WAIVER


Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT - for all volunteers and staff.


** If I am feeling unwell, have a cough or fever, I will not attend the festival.
** I will contact my manager to alert them that I am unable to fulfill my shift.
** If I am handling/preparing food or pouring beverages for a CIFF event, I will wear protective gloves.


By submitting this, you agree to the following statements:
I HAVE CAREFULLY READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ALL PROVISIONS OF THIS RELEASE, AND FREELY AND KNOWINGLY ASSUME THE RISK AND WAIVE MY RIGHTS CONCERNING LIABILITY AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
